Brief: Assist Cockburn Cement fulfil its commitment to build positive relationships and foster open communication with the local community around its Munster Plant. Improving communications with the community is a key part of the company's vision to be regarded as a leader in environmental performance and community relations by 2016.
Solution: We created and launched the Cockburn Cement Community website, as part of a much broader community engagement strategy. This includes a range of activities to improve communication and relationships wth the local community, which has trebled in size in the past decade.
Among activities to improve community engagement is Environs, the Cockburn Cement magazine produced by Clarity and published in both printed and digital formats. In keeping with the wider effort to engage with the community, Environs readers are invited to comment on the magazine in an on-going survey developed and conducted by Clarity.
Results: The website uses the Umbraco content management system to allow Cockburn Cement to regularly publish updated information on their latest community partnerships, environmental improvements and licencing and compliance. Website visitors can also register for an e-newsletter via a subscription function, enabling Cockburn Cement to develop direct and regular communications with their stakeholders.
The website has been further enhanced to display near real-time information about kiln emissions, as required by regulatory authorities. Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) data is updated on the site every 20 minutes.
