Brief: Assist the European Space Agency (ESA) to engage and consult local communities and other stakeholders in order to progress the development of a Deep Space Ground Station near the Benedictine monastic community of New Norcia.
Solution: Clarity ran a two year stakeholder engagement program before and during construction to inform residents of the Shire of Victoria Plains about the purpose and importance of the Deep Space Ground Station and its unique contribution to a range of missions, inlcuding to Mars.
Results: The stakeholder engagement program led to widespread acceptance of the Station by local residents and active engagement by the State Government, including the official launch by the Premier. Working closely with ESA's corporate affairs team in Germany, Clarity helped to generate widespread local, national and international media coverage of the Station. Clarity's Design team also assisted ESA to leave a permanent legacy in New Norcia by establishing a small space museum for tourists and school groups to visit.
