Sustainability
Sustainability is an increasingly important focus for businesses, large and small. It places an organisation’s environmental and societal impact at the same level of significance as financial performance.
While the definition of a small or medium sized business varies, collectively they play a major role in every country and in the Australian economy.
As a small business, we recognise that an emphasis on sustainability is key to being a responsible member of the global and local community. We believe we all have a role to play in protecting, preserving, and renewing our resources so that the way we live today does not negatively impact on the lifestyle or opportunities of future generations.
Our Approach to ESG
Our approach combines long-term commitments with everyday actions.
We have identified the following five Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) with which we believe our vision and operations best align and represents those areas where our business can have the most positive impact.
Clarity’s ESG Framework
Clarity’s ESG framework has been developed with a community focus, with our community being first and foremost Subiaco and metropolitan Perth, where we have a physical impact from our operations.
Secondly, our community includes the towns and regions of Western Australia where our clients primarily operate and where we can have an influence through our business activities. Finally, we are part of a global community that is largely determined by our clients’ operations and our supply chain where relevant.
Community
In 2024, Clarity’s 25th year in business, we’re proud to launch our charitable framework:
Activation | Community | Environment
This framework provides structure for our charitable activities, ensuring attention on our priority SDG areas and increasing the visibility of ESG at Clarity.
Clarity provides funding and pro bono support in our ACE areas. Our activities throughout the year are published on our social media channels.
Measuring our Impact
We produced our first ESG report for the CY2022 to establish the baseline metrics we will measure our progress against.
During CY2023 we relocated to a new larger office to accommodate our growing team, which has naturally had an impact on our carbon footprint. However, our goal is to now reduce these emissions over time as a whole business and per person where relevant.
We continue to monitor the progress of the commitments we have made including an ongoing investment in professional development and training, the provision of pro-bono advice where there is a strong connection to the cause in a subject area where our knowledge and expertise can add value.
We look forward to reporting on our progress and contributions for the CY2024.
