Bringing Subiaco back to life.
As residents of Subiaco for the better part of two decades, it’s fair to say we have seen the suburb’s rise and fall.
Like many other local businesses and residents, we have been waiting and hoping for something new and exciting to sweep Subi off its feet and restore it to its former glory.
That’s why it’s been so thrilling to see the plans Blackburne Property Group have announced for the Pavilion Markets site, and to work alongside Blackburne to help communicate that vision.
Paul Blackburne bought the Pavilion Markets site in August 2018, and plans are currently awaiting approval for a bold reimagining of the entire site complete with residential and commercial opportunities, open-air markets, and laneways full of places to catch up with friends for a drink or a bite to eat. Public spaces have been designed to draw visitors from the train station and locals from their homes, and to encourage everyone to stay a while and enjoy what Subi has to offer.
With a project this ambitious, and on a site that means so much to people, there was always going to be a long list of stakeholders to talk to. Clarity has been helping articulate Blackburne’s vision to the different interested parties, including councillors, residents and community groups.

Our work has included running the Subiaco by Blackburne Facebook page, where the vision for Subi’s future can be shared with a wider audience.
The results so far have been encouraging to say the least- media coverage has been well-balanced and positive, and the vast majority of people who have seen Blackburne’s vision have enthusiastically supported it. They, like us, are excited to see a local developer with knowledge of Subi’s history tackle the Pavilion Markets site, and deliver a solution with the potential to turn Subi’s fortunes around.
There’s still a long road ahead, but we will be keenly watching the development’s process, and first in line when the markets open. Bring on Subi 2.0.
